Hi, we havee just had a fireplace removed and are looking at getting some new boards put in place where the heath used to be. At the moment there is a piece of plywood there. We are wanting a timber surround built for our fireplace. Attached is a photo of the current fireplace (with TV above it), plus some photos of the kind of thing we are thinking of. (Note - we are aware of the requirement to have minimum 100mm stone surrounding the fireplace, and 300mm on the floor in front. We thought we would get the joinery sorted first and then move onto the stone.)

Isolate wet deck bearer from house wall

One section of deck bearer is rotten, rest is sound but wet along the length of the back wall of the house. Needs isolating from the wall as the moisture has entered the house and now the wall bearer is wet. Deck joists need spacing from the wall too. One cedar weatherboard is rotting and needs replacing.

I have a floor at home where some of the joists are higher than others which makes it so that I’m unable to lay laminate flooring down. Re-frame deck; re-ply deck and waterproof

On top of the indoor spa, there is an outdoor plywood deck. It was built flat and not correctly waterproofed, so the rainwater sits in the middle of it and degrades the plywood and beams underneath. Need to replace damaged beams, replace plywood, make sure the new surface is angled so the water doesn't sit there. Any other alternatives are welcomed, as long we keep the spa underneath dry.
