I'm looking at upgrading outbuildings on our Lake Tarawera property. In particular, an old bunkhouse is in poor condition and needs replacing, ideally with a self contained cottage. At this stage would like some ideas and options, preferably with some input on the planning and resource consent implications. The existing structure is around 20 sq metres and one storey. Fix cracked hardie board soffit lining

We have sold our house which is a 90's brick and tile bungalow. At the house entrance, the hardie board soffit lining has a reasonable crack in it which we are required to have fixed as a condition on sale of the house. We imagine that it could be repaired by installing a patch (on the roof side by removing tiles) to reinforce it, gluing it in place then sealing up the crack.
