Homes On Show - Save My Bathroom

Behind every job there is a story. This one starts with a homeowner, and a vision to renovate her bathroom from an outdated 1970’s relic to a modern, clean, and functional bathroom. The Dilemma The story starts with Joanne and her first tradie, a referral from a friend. The tradie seemed great. The homeowner and the tradie agreed that Joanne would buy everything that was needed for the bathroom, and the tradie gave her a cost to install and renovate to her plan. Fast forward three months and the tradie was nowhere to be seen and uncontactable. With the goods for her bathroom waiting in Mitre 10 and a loan taken out for the project, Joanne was desperate to get the job underway. The Solution “I spoke to someone at work, saying I didn’t know what to do. I needed to have my bathroom renovated, and my colleague said, have you put it on Builderscrack? Then they showed me how Builderscrack works, how to log on and use the site. I put the advert on the next day, and within two

Small job - Yoga trapeze

Posted 2 weeks ago

My wife wants to install a yoga trapeze in one of our spare rooms. This will require a couple of load-bearing brackets in the ceiling. Given the weight bearing will be that of a full sized adult (e.g. up to 100kg) with quite a bit of movement expected, I’m guessing the brackets need to connect to a beam in the roof cavity. No idea if this exists; how to connect to any such beam though the (plaster) ceiling; etc. Seeking a builder who can help solve it!

This job is to mount dryer to wall in laundry area and create vent for dryer. This will involve sourcing (a) appropriate materials for mounting my dryer to the wall, (b) mount the dryer to the wall and (c) creating ventilation. From what I can see, the best place for ventilation would seem to be putting the ventilation through the wall into the hot water cupboard and outside to the front of the building. This would require creating a few holes for the ventilation to go through. Although, I’m hap...
