Homes On Show - Save My Bathroom

Behind every job there is a story. This one starts with a homeowner, and a vision to renovate her bathroom from an outdated 1970’s relic to a modern, clean, and functional bathroom. The Dilemma The story starts with Joanne and her first tradie, a referral from a friend. The tradie seemed great. The homeowner and the tradie agreed that Joanne would buy everything that was needed for the bathroom, and the tradie gave her a cost to install and renovate to her plan. Fast forward three months and the tradie was nowhere to be seen and uncontactable. With the goods for her bathroom waiting in Mitre 10 and a loan taken out for the project, Joanne was desperate to get the job underway. The Solution “I spoke to someone at work, saying I didn’t know what to do. I needed to have my bathroom renovated, and my colleague said, have you put it on Builderscrack? Then they showed me how Builderscrack works, how to log on and use the site. I put the advert on the next day, and within two

The drain laying was done as part of a renovation project but unfortunately the builder has gone into liquidation and I am unable to contact him despite having paid for the work. Leaking cistern repair

Posted 15 hours ago

I have a toilet in the upstairs level of the house. It is built into the wall. After flushing, the cistern continues trickling into the bowl. Bell Plumbing tried to fix it. Messed around with it for half a day. Replaced the outer button unit (silver in the photo). Trickle continued. Waste of money. Searching for the best plumber in Tauranga who can fix this trickling cistern and completely stop the water flow into the bowl after the cistern has filled.

Cyclinder Leaking

Posted 20 hours ago

Not sure whether this can be repaired or needs replacing. 20 year old cylinder still works ok but leaks on and off - about once every 2 weeks. If needs replacing i will just have a normal single element cylinder - its not connected to any solar etc. Just electric. It sits in a cupboard thats 650mm deep, 700 mm wide and around 2500 high. Its fixed wired to the wall. The cupboard is on the second floor of the house but is easy to get to.

Main Pipe replacement

Posted 1 day ago

I have another leak, third in about 4 years, so I think it's time to replace the whole main pipe. It is about 20-25 meters long under an asphalt/concrete driveway. The driveway is not in the best condition either, so it will have to be resealed once the water main has been replaced. It would be difficult to quote remotely, so whoever is interested will have to come onsite to check the job and provide an estimate. We are in Mt Roskill/Lynfield area. Thanks
