Achieve Your Dream Home With Our Christchurch Renovation Specialists

Just hearing the word ‘renovations’ is enough to make many Kiwis tingle with excitement. With DIY a prominent feature in our culture, planning a dream renovation is on the cards for many of us. Luckily for us though, we understand that only an expert Christchurch renovation specialist should do those major house reno jobs. To prevent a DIY disaster, let’s find out the steps to take when hiring someone for your renovation job.

Four Steps To Take When Hiring A Christchurch Renovation Specialist

There are four major steps which you will follow when hiring a tradesperson or company for your home renovation. But before you start on your journey, you need to decide what you want to achieve. Do you want a larger living space, an extra bedroom or a wall removed? Clarifying exactly what you want your dream home to look like at the start helps you to hire the best people for the job.

  1. Consultation

Talking, talking and more talking is what happens during the consultation stage. Your project manager will meet with you and identify exactly what it is you want. They will bring in other specialists such as carpenters and designers to meet and discuss yours and other possible renovation ideas.

  2. Design

Designers now have all the information they need to create a 3D plan and concept design for your renovation job. The location of your property, such as in Lyttleton or in the CBD, is also taken into account during this stage. You are able to request any changes to your plans anytime during this process.

  3. Quote

After the project manager and other experts (such as quantity surveyors and engineers) have researched your job thoroughly, they will give you a quote. The quote usually contains all of the services and materials required to complete your renovation job. Often quotes offer a fixed price guarantee on the cost of your renovation, along with a fixed completion date too.

  4. Renovation

With the majority of Christchurch renovation experts able to complete the entire job within their company, renovating your home is mostly stress free and enjoyable. The project manager will coordinate the services of all the tradespeople, the delivery of materials and the outsourcing of jobs if needed, such as painters or plasterers. Many of the renovation companies will offer a 10 year Master Builder or Certified Builder guarantees on their workmanship or materials used.

We know that renovating your home ranks high on the list of the most stressful events we can go through in life. That’s why hiring one of our Christchurch renovation specialists makes great sense. List your renovation job here with us and get ready to enjoy achieving the home of your dreams built by our expert tradespeople!

Expert Tiling Provides The Finishing Touch to a Kitchen Renovation

Hiring an expert tiler gave the final polishing touch to one of our homeowner's stunning kitchen renovations...... Only a few months ago Natalie's kitchen was a dark space, coated in the once popular dark blue of the 90's. It not only made the already small kitchen appear tiny, but it created a dark feeling throughout the wider open plan living area. Fast forward to today, and the transformation is something out of a magazine. Not limited to the kitchen itself, but also the lightness it's brought to the rest of her living space. The Vision Natalie started with a firm style in mind, along with some key "must have" elements. “I had a vision of what I wanted, I wanted it bright, fresh, clean, compared with the dark blue.... every time I came into the space there was a gloomy feel to the room.” A essential element was to incorporate a crisp, white subway tile splash-back. Garage Door Colour Update Challenge Solved By Our Tradies

A simple colour update for her garage doors was all that one homeowner wanted. But it proved a little easier said than done until a “can do” tradie was found... The Job Paulette wanted to update the colour of her metal garage doors from what she called a “bland new denim blue” to a more striking ebony black. The Challenge Paulette contacted the garage door company to find out if, and how, the colour could be changed. They came back with two options; replacing the doors entirely at great expense; or powder coating at a cost not much less than new doors, and required them being taken away for two to three weeks. The Solution Not satisfied with these options, Paulette turned to builderscrack.co.nz to see if there were any other options. She already trusted the platform, having used it in the past to find some great tradies. For Paulette, the “ease of use is the best thing”, going on to say that “once you’ve used it the first time, it’s easy to go back and use again” and

Homes On Show - Save My Bathroom

Behind every job there is a story. This one starts with a homeowner, and a vision to renovate her bathroom from an outdated 1970’s relic to a modern, clean, and functional bathroom. The Dilemma The story starts with Joanne and her first tradie, a referral from a friend. The tradie seemed great. The homeowner and the tradie agreed that Joanne would buy everything that was needed for the bathroom, and the tradie gave her a cost to install and renovate to her plan. Fast forward three months and the tradie was nowhere to be seen and uncontactable. With the goods for her bathroom waiting in Mitre 10 and a loan taken out for the project, Joanne was desperate to get the job underway. The Solution “I spoke to someone at work, saying I didn’t know what to do. I needed to have my bathroom renovated, and my colleague said, have you put it on Builderscrack? Then they showed me how Builderscrack works, how to log on and use the site. I put the advert on the next day, and within two

Remove Cupboards, install Dishwasher in place

Posted 5 days ago

Remove one and a half cupboards from under the kitchen bench. Install and plumb in a dishwasher to the nearby water supply. Water supply is from the kitchen sink, to my eye it looks like it it will need to be tee'd off under the house and a line brought up to the dishwasher. Hopefully this will take only a few hours to complete. I'm not concerned with the cosmetics as the kitchen will be replaced at some point in the future.

We expect the particle board floor under the laminate and shower to be compromised as well as some of the framing/bottom plate.
