Best Way To Hire An Auckland Renovation Specialist

Renovating your home or business is such an exciting time. Adding a new bedroom, moving a wall or putting in a door are some of the most common renovation jobs we do. Kiwi’s love DIY, but thankfully we know our limits. That’s why we hire Auckland renovation specialists to do the big renovation jobs for us.

Renovating a property can be incredibly stressful and an experienced renovation expert will acknowledge that. By using an Auckland home renovation specialist, the process is streamlined to make things easier for home owners. All of the design work and planning, materials buying, building and specialist outsourcing is almost entirely done by renovation companies nowadays. The most difficult decision you will have to make is which local Auckland renovation specialist to hire!

Four Steps When Hiring An Auckland Renovation Specialist

The most important thing you need to do is decide what renovations you want done. Listing down the specifics of you job will let you find the right tradesperson or company for your job. If you are unsure about exactly what you want, most builders are happy to offer free consultations with prospective clients.  In fact, a consultation is the first of four steps in the renovation process.

Consultation

Once you have decided on which renovation specialist to use, you need to nail the details of what you want. You will meet with project managers and carpenters to talk about your North Shore, Waiheke Island or Mangere dream home.

Design

Next designers will begin to create the plans and concept designs for your renovation project. Often done in 3D, concept designs let you actually visualise what the end result will look like. Now is the time to make any changes or ask for ideas. Once you have finalised what you want, the detailed working drawings are sent to the Auckland City Council for the consent process.

Quote

Quantity surveyors, engineers and project managers will have researched your job thoroughly. They will put together a quote, often one which has a fixed price and date of completion guarantee. Many have contacts within the industry to obtain discounted materials to save you money. Or you may be able to ask for cheaper building materials to use to lower the quote.

Renovation

Many building companies will offer you the complete house renovation package; building, carpentry, plumbing, electrical services, plastering and painting. They achieve this through outsourcing to other reputable businesses. Some will offer you guarantees on their workmanship and even materials used. Master Builders offer a 10 year guarantee on their work, especially beneficial for you if your renovation is costly.

With all the worry and stress of managing a renovation project, it makes sense to hire tradies to do it all for you. We’ve made finding the right home renovation specialist easy by just listing your job with us. With all of Auckland’s best renovation experts ready and waiting, let’s get your dream home started today!

Homes On Show - Save My Bathroom

Behind every job there is a story. This one starts with a homeowner, and a vision to renovate her bathroom from an outdated 1970’s relic to a modern, clean, and functional bathroom. The Dilemma The story starts with Joanne and her first tradie, a referral from a friend. The tradie seemed great. The homeowner and the tradie agreed that Joanne would buy everything that was needed for the bathroom, and the tradie gave her a cost to install and renovate to her plan. Fast forward three months and the tradie was nowhere to be seen and uncontactable. With the goods for her bathroom waiting in Mitre 10 and a loan taken out for the project, Joanne was desperate to get the job underway. The Solution “I spoke to someone at work, saying I didn’t know what to do. I needed to have my bathroom renovated, and my colleague said, have you put it on Builderscrack? Then they showed me how Builderscrack works, how to log on and use the site. I put the advert on the next day, and within two

Garage Door Colour Update Challenge Solved By Our Tradies

A simple colour update for her garage doors was all that one homeowner wanted. But it proved a little easier said than done until a “can do” tradie was found... The Job Paulette wanted to update the colour of her metal garage doors from what she called a “bland new denim blue” to a more striking ebony black. The Challenge Paulette contacted the garage door company to find out if, and how, the colour could be changed. They came back with two options; replacing the doors entirely at great expense; or powder coating at a cost not much less than new doors, and required them being taken away for two to three weeks. The Solution Not satisfied with these options, Paulette turned to builderscrack.co.nz to see if there were any other options. She already trusted the platform, having used it in the past to find some great tradies. For Paulette, the “ease of use is the best thing”, going on to say that “once you’ve used it the first time, it’s easy to go back and use again” and

Expert Tiling Provides The Finishing Touch to a Kitchen Renovation

Hiring an expert tiler gave the final polishing touch to one of our homeowner's stunning kitchen renovations...... Only a few months ago Natalie's kitchen was a dark space, coated in the once popular dark blue of the 90's. It not only made the already small kitchen appear tiny, but it created a dark feeling throughout the wider open plan living area. Fast forward to today, and the transformation is something out of a magazine. Not limited to the kitchen itself, but also the lightness it's brought to the rest of her living space. The Vision Natalie started with a firm style in mind, along with some key "must have" elements. “I had a vision of what I wanted, I wanted it bright, fresh, clean, compared with the dark blue.... every time I came into the space there was a gloomy feel to the room.” A essential element was to incorporate a crisp, white subway tile splash-back. The Execution After sorting her kitchen supplier, she turned her attention to finding a tiler.
