Guide To Hiring Wellington Home Renovation Specialists

Renovating your home ranks as one of life's most stressful events, right up there with weddings and having kids. Luckily though, we acknowledge that major house renovations really need to be done by experts. That’s why we need to just sit back, relax and let our local Wellington renovation specialists to do all the work for us.

Most renovation companies nowadays work as a one stop shop. They have streamlined the process and most will do all the designing and building themselves. The hardest decision homeowners have to make is deciding which of the capital’s renovation experts to hire.

Four Steps When Hiring A Wellington Renovation Specialist

Before seeking out tradespeople, make a specific list of what you want done on your property. Once your list is complete, it’s time to start the renovation process with the company of your choice.

Consultation

Nailing done the specifics of your renovation project occurs during step one. You will meet with a project manager to discuss the home of your dreams and how a renovation will achieve that. They can also offer suggestions about your ideas and even come up with things you hadn’t even thought of.

Design

Your project manager will share your ideas with a designer who will then create the plans and concept designs for your renovation project. With the majority of plans created in 3D, you will be able to actually get a sense of what your home will actually look like. Once you have agreed on the design and made any changes, your plans will be sent to the Auckland City Council to go through the building consent process.

Quote

A quote will be given for your renovation job after quantity surveyors, engineers and your project manager have thoroughly researched it. Many New Lynn or Henderson renovation specialists offer fixed price fees and guaranteed completion dates too. Materials will be included within the quote, as they are most probably able to source them at a lower cost by bulk ordering.

Renovation

Finally comes the exciting bit; the renovation itself. Your project manager will coordinate all of the tradespeople and materials, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and to schedule. Your chosen company may offer a 10 year Master Builder or Certified Builder guarantee on their workmanship and materials. While it probably won’t be needed, it’s a great security blanket for a homeowner to have.

Now is the time to act on your dreams and get your renovation started! List your renovation job today and together with our experts, we will achieve your dream home.

Expert Tiling Provides The Finishing Touch to a Kitchen Renovation

Hiring an expert tiler gave the final polishing touch to one of our homeowner's stunning kitchen renovations...... Only a few months ago Natalie's kitchen was a dark space, coated in the once popular dark blue of the 90's. It not only made the already small kitchen appear tiny, but it created a dark feeling throughout the wider open plan living area. Fast forward to today, and the transformation is something out of a magazine. Not limited to the kitchen itself, but also the lightness it's brought to the rest of her living space. The Vision Natalie started with a firm style in mind, along with some key "must have" elements. “I had a vision of what I wanted, I wanted it bright, fresh, clean, compared with the dark blue.... every time I came into the space there was a gloomy feel to the room.” A essential element was to incorporate a crisp, white subway tile splash-back. Homes On Show - Save My Bathroom

Behind every job there is a story. This one starts with a homeowner, and a vision to renovate her bathroom from an outdated 1970’s relic to a modern, clean, and functional bathroom. The Dilemma The story starts with Joanne and her first tradie, a referral from a friend. The tradie seemed great. The homeowner and the tradie agreed that Joanne would buy everything that was needed for the bathroom, and the tradie gave her a cost to install and renovate to her plan. Fast forward three months and the tradie was nowhere to be seen and uncontactable. With the goods for her bathroom waiting in Mitre 10 and a loan taken out for the project, Joanne was desperate to get the job underway. The Solution “I spoke to someone at work, saying I didn’t know what to do. I needed to have my bathroom renovated, and my colleague said, have you put it on Builderscrack? Garage Door Colour Update Challenge Solved By Our Tradies

A simple colour update for her garage doors was all that one homeowner wanted. But it proved a little easier said than done until a “can do” tradie was found... The Job Paulette wanted to update the colour of her metal garage doors from what she called a “bland new denim blue” to a more striking ebony black. The Challenge Paulette contacted the garage door company to find out if, and how, the colour could be changed. They came back with two options; replacing the doors entirely at great expense; or powder coating at a cost not much less than new doors, and required them being taken away for two to three weeks. The Solution Not satisfied with these options, Paulette turned to builderscrack.co.nz to see if there were any other options. She already trusted the platform, having used it in the past to find some great tradies. For Paulette, the “ease of use is the best thing”, going on to say that “once you’ve used it the first time, it’s easy to go back and use again” and

Small bathroom renovation

Posted 1 week ago

I have a small bathroom - which doubles as a laundry. I'd like the shower box removed (shower itself stays) and a bath installed along with a small vanity. I'd need tiling on the walls and floors as well. I also have an old fashioned s-bend toilet with a plastic seat and cistern which I would like modernised to a new suite. However the toilet has a skew outlet (I think that's what's called) so this may not be possible. If not I would like a sturdier seat and cistern. And the floor tiled. Ideally...
