What can a carpenter do?

Carpenters are the "jack of all trades" in the building industry. Although they are known for working primarily with timber, they can also work with plywood, concrete, wallboards, brick and steel.

These builders are able to erect structures, repair existing work, and install new building works. They work with you throughout the foundations phase until you’re ready to paint.

What qualifications does a carpenter have?

A carpenter is not obligated to receive any formal training, however a great deal of these tradespeople have completed their three to four year apprenticeship, studying the National Certificate in Carpentry through the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation.

A carpenter with the correct qualifications will charge on average around $56 an hour, whereas unskilled carpenters may be cheaper, but you should check carefully the quality of their work before hiring.

How to land a good carpenter
