Auckland Roofers – Find The Perfect Roofing Professional For The Right Price

Whether you’re from North Shore, Auckland City, Waitakere or Manukau, you’ll be happy in the knowledge that you’re living in the 3rd best city for quality of living according to the Mercer Quality of Living city. Aucklanders are a lucky bunch, and a strong community too. With beautiful harbours, you’re living in New Zealand’s largest city – Auckland’s population is over 1.4 million.

With such a large population, you’re able to find a wide range of professional tradesmen in Auckland. If you’re having roof issues, problems with gutters, or need roof reconstruction, or structural work you’ll need to get in a roofing contractor.

Jobs a Qualified Roofer Can Do

  • Fixing a leaky roof or dripping ceiling
  • Repairing or replacing broken, cracked, or missing roof tiles
  • Roof cleaning, lichen removal, rust removal, painting, coating, sealing, mortaring and pointing
  • Full roof restoration
  • Working with a range of roofing materials such as slate, concrete, tile, shingles, copper, wood, corrugated iron, tin, PVC and Colorbond
  • Installing, fixing and replacing gutters, gutterguards, downpipes and spouting
  • Installing a new roof
  • Asbestos removal and disposal
  • Providing roof maintenance checks and spot repairs

How to Choose Your Tradie

Finding the right roofer for your job used to be a difficult process – flipping through the Yellow Pages and contacting multiple roofing companies. Thanks to the power of being able to post a roofing job online and then different tradespeople bidding for the opportunity to complete it, all the work is now done by the tradesmen instead of you!

Auckland roofing contractors are qualified to provide an extensive range of services. Take care, as you’ll need to vet each candidate to make sure they’re they right fit for your job. Make sure they tick all these boxes:

  • Comprehensive insurance
  • Reliable reviews or references
  • Checkable qualifications – you can ask to see their certificates of qualification
  • Warranties on work – at least 2-3 years, up to 5 years warranty (some even offer up to 10 years) – and get them to explain your warranty fully
  • Preferably a member of RANZ (Roofing Association of New Zealand)

Time and Cost for the Job

Each roofing job will cost a different amount based on the time and materials required.

Some estimates for common roofing jobs:

  • Roofing asbestos removal (100m²) $2000-$28600
  • New tile roof (100m²) $4100-$20500
  • Roof repair (less than 1m²) $70-$380

The roofer you hire will give you an estimate of the time it will take to complete your job. Some roofs are more complex or sloped than others requiring more time. Always ensure the roofing professional comes out to inspect the roof before agreeing to a cost and time estimate.

Other Things to Know

  • Craft your job description carefully when putting up an advertised job. The more information you provide about your roofing situation, the more comprehensive responses you will receive.
  • Installing a new roof, structural roofing, or re-roofing will require a check from your Building Consent Authority on whether you require a Building Consent.
  • Quotes from professionals should be in writing and obligation free.
