Keeping Puppies Safe - One Gate at a Time

Zeppelin, the Swedish Vallhund, has been a long awaited addition to one couples home. But before this bundle of energy could be let outside, some backyard gate improvements were necessary... MJ's dream dog had always been a Swedish Vallhund. After moving to Christchurch and settling in, the time was finally right to make this dream come true. MJ and her husband, Josh, tracked down a breeder, got themselves on the list, and settled in to wait for their ball of fluff to arrive. Once they got word their new family member was on his way, they went about preparing for his arrival. At the top of the list was "puppy proofing" their backyard gate. The Problem They wanted to feel secure letting Zeppelin out into the backyard without the worry of him escaping, and their existing gate wasn't doing enough in the way of reassurance. The gate was wire mesh, potentially "quite chewable" for those razor sharp milk teeth. This is where Builderscrack enters the story... The Solution MJ, a

Why This Fence Gave One Christchurch Homeowner Peace of Mind

Backyard safety: a secure yard for the family.  Babysitting just got easier for Allana, a Christchurch homeowner who has regular visits from her little niece, and Allana’s parents and their dog, Joey. Having recently moved into her new property, Allana set out to ensure it met her family’s needs - and in this case, it meant having a secure yard. The Problem There were two parts to the problem: a small gap on one side of the house, and a privacy fence on the other made up of brick and greenery. While this landscape design added style to the property facade, the access to the road proved tricky to manage with two little ones on the go. The Solution With a fair idea in mind of what needed to be done, Allana posted her job on Builderscrack detailing the project scope. She was after a fencing solution that enhanced the backyard safety to allow peace of mind whenever they were in the backyard. Choosing a Tradie There were four tradies who were interested in the job,

Front boundary fence and gate

Posted 9 months ago

We are wanting to fence the front of our property. We're thinking just very plain wooden paling, perhaps about 1.2m high, with gaps between paling. Our front boundary is aprox 17m long of fencing (10m one side of driveway, 7m on the other side). We also envisage hanging a farm gate, and a pedestrian gate, across the driveway. The photo below is not the actual site but an idea of the type of fence we're hoping for.
