after seven weeks, Three’s House Rules NZ 2023 has come to an end — and who doesn’t love a backyard makeover to finish things off!
This season, the teams wowed the judges with their new found reno skills, but only two teams remained for this week’s grand final.
In the end, the team to take out the grand prize of a $100,000 home loan deduction was Jemma & Alvaro.
And in a heartfelt twist, the pair kindly split their winnings with the runners up, Martinique & Andre.

Martinique & Andre’s Backyard
This space started off resembling a construction site, but was soon to be transformed by this seasons winners, Jemma & Alvaro.
With Martinique & Andre’s young family in mind, the pair set out on a mission to create a backyard fit for everyone, with a bench-seating nook, an outdoor oven, and a treehouse for the two young boys to enjoy.
The home’s exterior also got a fresh lick of black and white paint, a new deck, a trellis and a louvred roof.

Jemma & Alvaro’s Backyard
Martinique & Andre were able to breathe new life into Jemma & Alvaro’s once tired backyard in the battle for the grand prize this week.
They turned this space from ‘do-er upper’ into a Kiwi-style oasis, giving it a vacation feel with lemon trees, Scandi rattan beach chairs, and a cool thatch umbrella.
The makeover also included a rebuilt deck, louvred roof to give the option of extra sunlight, and an outdoor oven and seating area, perfect for Jemma & Alvaro to entertain guests.
