Chris Drake got in touch through a Buildercrack job and invited me over to check out the space properly. He was running out of cabinetry room in his home and needed something modern, tidy, and built to last. After going over his rough plan and talking through what he wanted to achieve, we put together a design that suited the space perfectly. The new cabinetry features LED lighting under the top units, adding both practicality and a bit of flair. Everything was finished in Melteca White from Laminex, giving the area a clean, fresh look. For the drawer system, we installed Blum Merivobox push‑to‑open drawers, backed with a lifetime warranty, so the customer knows the hardware will go the distance. Once everything was fitted, the cabinetry came out absolutely stunning — crisp lines, smooth operation, and a bright, modern feel. Chris was genuinely stoked with the end result, and it’s always a good buzz seeing a customer that happy with their upgrade. This project is a great example of how smart design and solid craftsmanship can completely lift a space.

Garage storage (Frimley Hastings)

clients recently built a new home in Frimley, Hastings, and were referred to us after searching for quality joinery. They were looking for a unique, stylish, and highly functional storage solution for their garage, with a particular focus on ventilated shoe storage and practical everyday usability. To meet their needs, we designed and installed tall storage cabinets fitted with Hettich soft‑close bifold hardware, ensuring smooth operation and long‑lasting durability. The dedicated shoe cabinet features custom‑made ventilated doors, allowing airflow while keeping the space tidy and organised. We also crafted a bench seat with drawers underneath, providing a convenient spot for putting on shoes before heading out through the garage. Additional hangers and floating shelves were installed to accommodate raincoats, bags, and general household items, maximising functionality within the space. The bench seat top and floating shelf are finished in Aged Ash, adding warmth and character to the overall design. The clients were thrilled with the final result, appreciating both the thoughtful layout and the clean, modern aesthetic.

Laundary space

laundry renovation in Hastings showcases how thoughtful design and quality joinery can transform a compact utility area into a highly functional and visually refined space. The upgrade features full‑height cabinetry built right up to the ceiling, fitted with bifold doors for smooth access and maximum storage. Inside, a dedicated vacuum cleaner compartment with a built‑in power point sits alongside shelving designed for tall appliances and everyday household items. Additional overhead cabinets provide valuable storage for items used less frequently. Adjacent to the tall cabinetry, a custom laundry bench was installed, complete with a single base cabinet featuring two push‑to‑open doors. This keeps ironing essentials neatly tucked away while maintaining a clean, uncluttered look. Above the bench, a hanging rail offers a practical space for drying or organising clothing straight from the dryer or after ironing. All cabinetry was finished in Shou Sugi from the Laminex range — a bold, modern colour that the customers absolutely loved. The finish ties the entire space together, giving the laundry a contemporary, cohesive feel. This project highlights how well‑planned joinery can elevate both the functionality and style of a home’s everyday spaces.

Hell Pizza counter

Team just completed a standout commercial project for Hell Pizza in Hastings, giving their front counter a high‑quality upgrade that lifts both durability and visual impact. The centrepiece of the project is a solid American timber benchtop, carefully crafted and finished to highlight the natural grain and rich warmth of the wood. Once polished, the timber came to life beautifully, adding a premium feel that immediately draws attention. Below the benchtop, we installed Meranti ply cladding and skirting, chosen for its strength and clean finish — ideal for a busy food environment. These components were professionally painted in Mirotone Black, 30% gloss, by Freeman Hastings. The glossy black finish creates a bold contrast against the timber, giving the counter a modern, striking presence that fits perfectly with Hell Pizza’s brand. The final result not only looks impressive but also enhances the customer experience the moment they walk in. The owners were thrilled with how the natural grain shines through and how the overall design elevates the atmosphere of the store. This project showcases how quality joinery and thoughtful material choices can transform a commercial space into something functional, durable, and visually striking.

PakiPaki Road, Kitchen

customers were ready to make the most of their compact space, so they approached us to design and build a new kitchen that combined smart functionality with a style they truly loved. The goal was to transform a small area into a practical, beautiful, and welcoming hub of the home. The finished kitchen features a stunning Spinifex colour scheme paired with elegant White Diamond engineered stone benchtops. A comfortable seating area for three was incorporated to maximise usability without compromising on space. Every detail was carefully considered to ensure both efficiency and visual appeal. To complete the build, we installed premium Hettich soft‑close hardware throughout, offering smooth performance and backed by a lifetime warranty. In the end, the clients expressed complete satisfaction with their new kitchen, appreciating both the craftsmanship and the thoughtful design.

Bench seat (Puketapu)

We recently completed a special restoration project for a customer whose built‑in bench seat was damaged during Cyclone Gabrielle in Hawke’s Bay. The client asked us to bring it back to life using the original timber, preserving both the character and the history of the piece. To achieve this, we carefully removed, repaired, and reused the existing timber. Each component was sanded, polished, and restored to bring back its natural colour and original warmth. The goal was to revive the bench seat exactly as the customer remembered it — and the result exceeded their expectations. Under the seat, we built custom pull‑out drawers by hand, providing practical storage while maintaining a seamless look. These were finished in a white 30% gloss shaker style, perfectly matching the existing kitchen cabinetry and tying the whole space together. Seeing their restored bench seat back in place — in the living area beside the dining table — meant a lot to the customer. It was more than just furniture; it was a part of their home that they were thrilled to have back again. This project highlights how thoughtful craftsmanship can restore not only function, but also the emotional value of a piece.

Mani listen to our brief. He quickly presented a plan which closely followed my initial drawing. A few changes were made but they made the cabinet a lot more flexible. We are very happy with the end result. Mani has a good eye for detail and even though our walls are not straight, he did an excellent job matching the new cabinet to the walls. Mani supplied extra shelves and a splash back, which we forgot to include in the original job.
