Auckland is a wonderful place to live. We have Waitemata harbour, the Bay of Islands, Mt Eden and One Tree Hill and we’re home to the biggest Polynesian population in the world. We have a cosmopolitan city no doubt.
We’re also lucky in that there still exists the quarter-acre dream just outside of the inner city; and while plots in Auckland central aren’t as large, we still need to lineate from our neighbours. Fences and gates indicate our very own slice of the suburbs, so if you need a contractor to work on either of them you’ve come to the right place.
Using Builderscrack you can find yourself a fencing and gating professional to get your job done swiftly.
What jobs can a fencing and gate professional do?
Do they have any professional qualifications?
Although it isn’t necessary to have qualifications in the field, some tradies will have completed a National Certificate in Fencing which has Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 certifications. You may ask your contractor if you are interested.
What sort of questions should I ask them?
You can ask potential workers as many questions as you like. After all you want to be happy with the person or team you end up picking. Common questions include:
How much will it cost?
This will all depend on the materials used and the size of your fence or gate. For a fence removal, if your fence is 36 metres long, it will cost approximately $1,400 to $2,800.
For a new fence, if it is 36 metres long and 1.2 metres high, a new steel fence should cost between $6,100 and $13,000, whereas a new timber fence should cost between $2,600 and $6,000. Adding a paint or stain to the timber will increase the cost – it will be around 150% of the cost of timber alone.
For a new gate for your driveway, if you want an electronic gate it will be anywhere from $2,800 to $6,100, and for a manual gate from $920 to $2,600.
For repairs, check with your contractor.
What should I include in my Builderscrack ad?
Include a description of the work that needs to be done, material/s that you would like to use (or options), the length of the area that needs to be covered and possibly any pictures of old fencing or gating that needs removal.
