Heartland Landscapes is a Christchurch-based landscape construction business, owned and operated by Trent Lawn. We work across Christchurch and surrounding areas, delivering both smaller works and complete outdoor builds from early ideas through to construction.
Our work includes decking, pergolas, fencing and screens, retaining walls, paving and patios, driveways, outdoor living areas, fire pits, drainage, irrigation, lawns (natural and artificial), and planting.
For projects where layouts, levels, or site constraints come into play, our process usually starts with a conversation and site visit to get a clear gauge of what you’re wanting to achieve. From there we can talk through options, provide practical guidance around layout and design, set budget expectations, and then prepare a clear quote. Once agreed, works are scheduled and the build phase is carried out.

Heartland Landscapes was the only company to actually reply to my inquires. Trent and his team did an amazing job demolishing my old fence, levelling my section, ripping out old tree roots and pouring a concrete slab and path. They were a genuine pleasure to have around and always left the area neat and tidy at the end of each day. Trent listened to what I wanted and added stunning ideas of his own. He transformed my new build garden into a beautiful calm, zen like space. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. 5 months later and I asked Trent to return as I had a few more ideas to run by him. Together we decided where to carry on the stepping stone path, site a greenhouse, and make a new place for a particular tree I wanted. He then took it to the next level adding an arrangement of rocks to the new garden and installing a swing for my grandchildren (and myself!) His knowledge and experience of where to put all these things is incomparable. Moving some raised beds - no problem. Creating a wooden stepping path across the garden with left over macrocarpa - easy. To top it off he has installed a super easy watering system around the garden and even in my greenhouse with instructions (very important). We engaged Trent to transform an old, neglected patio into an inviting, entertaining area that flows seamlessly into our garden. The end result exceeded our expectations. Every detail was thoughtfully considered by Trent - from sourcing custom-milled timber to complement the existing pergola, to incorporating contrasting black fittings that create a striking statement.
