Aluminium Balustrade & Kwila Stairs
This project in the heart of Remuera exemplifies precision craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail. The focal point of the job was the seamless integration of stair treads, risers, and kwila-lined retaining walls. What set this project apart was the flawless mitring of the stair treads and risers, carefully aligned to match the gaps in the kwila lining of the retaining wall. This intentional design choice created a cohesive and polished look, elevating the visual impact of the space. The rich, natural tones of kwila timber were carefully chosen for their durability and timeless aesthetic, enhancing both functionality and elegance. The result is a seamless flow between the deck, fencing, and stairs, with clean lines and a modern finish that complements the surrounding environment.
Kitchen & Interior Renovation
This bespoke 50sqm renovation project demonstrates our expertise in reimagining interiors to balance functionality and style. Tasked with transforming a section of the lounge into a new bedroom while installing a modern kitchen, we delivered a cohesive and tailored solution that perfectly met our client’s needs. The standout features of this project include the carefully constructed inner walls that created a new living space without compromising the flow of the home and the installation of a sleek, functional kitchen. Designed with both form and practicality in mind, the kitchen blends seamlessly with the newly created spaces, offering a clean and contemporary aesthetic. Throughout the project, we ensured minimal disruption to the client, completing the entire scope of work—including painting and decorating—within an impressive three-week timeline.
Marlborough Sounds Boatshed
This bespoke 60sqm boatshed with a generous 3-metre ceiling height exemplifies our commitment to innovative design and functional construction. Tasked with both the build and the design of custom storage racks, we delivered a highly efficient and tailored solution to meet the specific needs of our client. The standout feature of this project was the precision-engineered storage racking system, designed to maximise space and provide effortless organisation. Our team worked closely with the client to ensure that every rack served a purpose, accommodating the boatshed’s unique storage requirements while maintaining a clean and accessible layout.
Marlborough Sounds Holiday House
This 255sqm architectural new build in the stunning and remote Marlborough Sounds is a testament to precision planning and teamwork. Situated on a site accessible only by boat, the project posed unique challenges that required exceptional logistics and coordination. Macalister Construction worked closely alongside the main contractor to bring this high-end design to life. All materials were transported via barge, meaning every detail had to be meticulously planned to avoid delays. Despite the remote location and logistical hurdles, the team’s dedication and streamlined building systems ensured the project progressed seamlessly. The clients set a strict deadline of Christmas Day for practical completion, adding an extra layer of urgency to the build. Through extended hours and a relentless focus on efficiency, the team successfully delivered this ambitious project on time, meeting the high standards expected of an architecturally designed home.
Full Bathroom Renovation
This was a full bathroom renovation with all services located and the addition of a flush finished shower with a full length channel drain. Job turned out mint which kept the clients and us happy!
Renovation
This was quite a major renovation consisted of removing a mezzanine floor and enforcing the front wall structurally with a girder due to bracing requirements in the given wind zone. We were left with the job of advising the clients how to incorporate the girder into the space and make it look appealing. Given we were lining the ceiling with negative detailed Birch Plywood we decided to run a similar operation on the girder. Clients and ourselves are both proud of the work. This renovation also consisted of a kitchen and bathroom remodel, the bathroom of which was a real standout with a flush finished shower running off to a full length channel drain against the wall and the hardware within the bathroom meeting nicely with grout line intersections making it appealing to the eye.
