Posted 9 months agoI am hoping to get advice around the construction of a retaining wall and whether I require a consent. I have purchased a sloping piece of land and will be putting a 2nd hand house onto it. I have to cut and fill the land and at its deepest am looking at a 3 metre-ish drop. Posted 1 year agoIn need of advice and help with a chimney that has moved away from the house. Builder has noted - 'Concerning aspects are that there is clearly movement away from the house since it was last painted. The chimney is now out of plumb by an amount, close to 25mm per 1200mm. My advise is that you engage an engineer to ascertain if it can be fixed back to the house in a manor to stabilise it enough to prevent collapse.' Posted 2 years agoWe are applying for our housing New Zealand grant but they have asked us to get a quantity surveyor to price the work we are doing ourselves as the won’t just except our quotes. We are doing the retaining wall, tiling in the bathrooms, organising the dig out and doing the drive way. My dad is doing all the work free of charge so we are only looking at the cost of materials which he gets cheap.
