Weatherboard house requires preparation and painting on 2 sides. 2 storey house, 140sq/m, access is limited as the house is up a path and steps. Windows need painting and new putty applied to some as well.

I'm afraid I cannot leave a positive review about positively painting. It all started well enough and the job was completed promptly and to budget. However since that time numerous areas of paint have bubbled up all over the house, on window sills and weatherboards. Terry sent his team back to redo some areas, but these have now bubbled up again. I have called and emailed Terry on numerous occasions and he keeps telling me that I have not been forgotten and he will be in touch, but this never happens. In fact now he does not even bother to respond to emails at all - not very professional. Terry is now saying that the issue lies with the previous paint coats, but this was never flagged up at the start, only mentioned in the quote if the weatherboards were Cedar which they are not, and Terry also confirmed this to me in person. The repair work that was done was very rushed and the undercoats applied were very light and 'streaky' (there was only one undercoat) and I believe this is why the bubbling has returned. The scaffolding was also removed before I had a proper chance to check the work and now I cannot access areas that look like they have problems. I really don't like leaving bad reviews, but in this case this is my only option as Terry does not seem to want to sort these issues now he has had full payment. I think part of the problem lies with the way the team is managed - the main point of contact is Terry, and he is very knowledgeable and gives you a lot of confidence, but his input after quoting is minimal - he does visit the jobs every couple of days, but does not have time to fully check the work, and I don't know how good the onsite project management is really considering the issues I have had. I am quite disappointed as I liked the way the team worked quickly and efficiently and the initial results looked great, however now that the finish is deteriorating and I am not so sure.

"In response to a poor review ; I normally wouldn’t bother with replying as it makes it worse, but in this instance there are so many incorrect assumptions. Adherence to cost 2; -the3 times that we came back to fix minor bubbling we didn’t charge any extra, the cost never changed...how can adherence to cost rating be so low ? If you say the job was completed promptly and to budget why place a 3 ? When you brought to our attention to “numerous areas “ of bubbling we came to find only a few areas of very small bubbling that were then stripped back and repainted ... which didn’t take such a long time . It is rather naive to blame these problems on “preparation not being good enough “ ... its like me saying why didn’t you inform us at the start that the original undercoats weren’t done with the appropriate oil-based undercoat over cedar...before we started ... you weren’t to know ...and if it doesn’t come off with sanding , how are we to know ... ? These are problems that have emerged over the last 10 years with the recoating over Acrylic primers . You can ask any paint rep and they know this and will deny that their paint is to blame... yet you are all too eager to blame poor preparation . And you know there was plenty of preparation on this job! We have a very obvious section on every quote explaining this very issue. And we try very hard to make this not return... There was no poor preparation on this job. And in this instance, they were small bubbling...and it seemed only on the sills ? The impatience to “sort the issues” seems to have meant that the WHOLE job deserves a poor review which doesn’t make sense ... ...so “beware of this team”... !!! small bubbles that are fixable , not caused by us, and I had said this can be remedied ... but because its not in your timeframe, ... you couldn’t wait , ... so a spiteful review was made ... ...very unnecessary !!"
