An engineer recently inspected the piles under the house, and made the following comments: "There is a row of replacement concrete piles that are located too close to the edge of the excavation for the lower-level rooms. These piles should be replaced with long timber piles in footings excavated down to a stable level... Some diagonal braces between piles in this area is also recommended." Note that there are access restrictions to the house. To access the house, you must walk 40-50m down a narrow path. Please also note that we have recently purchased the house, and that we would strongly prefer to do this work after settlement date, which is the weekend of 10 March.
