In search of a digger and operator for earth moving please. Looking for a digger that will fit down the side of our house: 1175mm at smallest width. The job includes moving earth around the back yard to make a fairly level surface for a lawn. Also digging over front yard in prep for planting, one side of the front yard has tricky access that will possibly need a ramp. Keen to have you over and show you in person.

Savvy homeowners use Builderscrack to get their home repair and renovation projects done.
Christchurch, with its Maori heritage, and home to the Canterbury Crusaders, is home to a chillier climate in New Zealand than the other cities, but it is nonetheless a happening place.
Excavation has been a hot profession over the last few years in Christchurch. Excavator operators have helped transform the city centre of Christchurch from a crumbled mess to a workable space to rebuild on once again.
Earthmoving machine operators or Kaiwhakamahi Wakapana Oneone can help transform your space with their expertise, so read on to find out how they can help you build your dream property.
Tasks for Excavation Experts:
Excavators may use a variety of equipment to fulfil your needs including excavators, bulldozers, compactors, graders, diggers, back hoes, loaders and other large machinery.
They may require extensive site access, and the cost of using an earthmoving professional may vary depending on whether they on their own equipment or hire it from another company.
Qualifications
People that perform excavation services with machinery will hold a licence for that particular piece of equipment. This may include heavy vehicle licences from class 2 to class 5, with tracks, wheels or rollers. The operator may also have completed their National Certificate in Civil Plant Operation in Bulk Earthmoving Level 3. You can ask your tradie all the details of their qualifications.
Cost of works
Large scale earthworks jobs will attract a large cost, due mainly to the cost of the equipment used in the project. If you have a project that can be done by a small machine, or by hand the cost will decrease significantly.
The cost will involve the machine operation cost, machine hire, labour costs, material cost if building a retaining wall, as well as the cost to remove any debris from your property. The cost of removing debris will usually be charged depending on the type of material to be removed (e.g. rock, soil, clay) and the cubic meterage of the debris.
Ensure that you receive written quotes from any potential hires after they have surveyed your property but before going ahead with the project.
Putting up the advertisement seeking earth works professionals
Include a description of what you want to achieve from your project. If you don’t know the technical terms, that’s ok, the contractor should be able to talk you through what is needed. Measure out the area to be worked on, and if it involves depth, that too. Stipulate whether you need any removal of waste from your property and put in a picture of the current state of the area to give them an idea of what will be involved.
If you have time constraints then make sure to outline this in the description, and if you have any pictures of what you would like the end result to look like include them too.
