We are seeking to repair the concrete bond beam in our ground floor garage. There is horizontal crack extended along the beam, the crack is approximately 0.2mm to 1.5mm wide, the cause of the cracks is most likely due to the expansion of the steel while rusting. We seek a repair which will likely require: - Temporary prop for the bond beam, - Break out the cracks and clean up the rusted reinforcing steel - Replace the rusted steel if required - Recast the beam back to its original shape. - Add a steel angle to strengthen the beam, sketch attached. An engineer will need to monitor monitor the construction, either ours or one the tradesman works with. (Proposals can be included in the quote.) The house is in Wilton, Wellington.
