Character Builders have been in operation in Canterbury since 1999, and when we started in business we have partnered with a 3rd generation family of builders right from the outset, and so our experience is vast and our reputation has stood the test of time.
Character Builders specialize in architectural and period style housing. We have a strong reputation in Canterbury for excellence and quality; proving building services to a wide range of users.
New Builds:
Character Builders have developed a range of new homes; we call "Character Homes”.
These beautiful homes embody the classic lines and nostalgia of a by-gone era, but are designed in such a way as to overcome the nagging maintenance and thermal loss issues of the past. Our Character Homes are designed specifically for your location and your family’s personal needs, employing state-of-the-art design philosophy, materials, and technology.
We recognise that whilst some prefer a simple modern home but with classical lines that gives a sense of authenticity, others however are passionate about the intricate detail of an historic NZ home. And so we would invite you to share with us your ideas and dreams, and let Character Builders bring them to reality.
Renovations:
We have long since discovered that working in a person's home is different from just being on a building site on a bare block of land; we respect the fact that this is your home, and so we are also careful to employ quality staff who are trustworthy, have good relational skills and are determined to achieve an excellent finish.
Some of the work we do is just repairs & maintenance, whilst at other times we might combine our teams and undertake renovation projects in excess of $1 million. But whether large or small, we have a range of skilled staff and contractors, who not only have the technical skills necessary for this demanding and detailed work, but our teams actually love repairing old homes.
