House Relocation - Kaikohe, Northland
Project description
The project sustainably relocates and reuses the second storey of an existing Auckland house, giving the building a new life within a new community in Kaikohe, Northland, rather than demolishing the structure due to flood-zone constraints. The relocated home includes a restored and reclad front entrance and a new outdoor deck, strengthening its connection with the new site while retaining key elements of the original building. Unveil Architects provides full architectural services, including Building Consent documentation and coordination with structural, surveying and specialist house-moving consultants, demonstrating how relocation can reduce construction waste and extend the life of existing buildings.
