About

Woolgro is a New Zealand-made, eco-friendly lawn establishment product that serves as an alternative to hydroseeding or laying roll-out ready lawn. It consists of a biodegradable mat made from recycled sheep’s dag wool and jute fiber, with grass seeds embedded directly into the fabric. Key Characteristics & How It Works
• All-in-One Growth Medium: The mat acts as an insulator, moisture retainer, and natural fertilizer. As the wool biodegrades, it slowly releases nitrogen and other nutrients directly to the developing root system.
• Weed & Pest Suppression: The physical layer suppresses opportunistic weeds from germinating underneath and protects the embedded seeds from being eaten by birds or washed away by rain.
• Installation: It is rolled out over prepared topsoil, covered with a light layer (~10 mm) of soil or lawn mix, and kept damp until the grass establishes.
• Grass Varieties: Available in various seed blends tailored to local conditions, including Tall Fescue, Fine Fescue, Perennial Ryegrass, Fine Turf, and Kikuyu blends.
• Application: Woolgro Waikato can handle full site prep, laying, irrigation, and establishment.
