If you have been thinking about improving your garden, I recommend you give Matt at Southern Waterscapes a call. Redesigning our garden at the side of our house had been on our wish list for some years. So, you can imagine I had lots of designs in my head. We had to have moving water and a natural look. A google search found Matt at Southern Waterscapes. He was great to deal with from start to finish. He managed to translate my descriptions into two features, a pond-less waterfall and a pond. The visual link is perfect they look like they have always been there. Matt's ability to turn a scruffy weedy garden area into something beautiful makes him a true artist. It doesn’t end there. Having completed our beautiful water features Matt continues to provide support, advice and after care. Matt provides exceptional service going above and beyond our expectations. The addition of water to the garden has brought it alive. We added fish, but the frogs and birds found their own way. We have the perfect place to sit and unwind. Matt interpreted our landscaping plans and worked with us to tailor a bespoke design for our house surroundings (in Lyttelton, a tricky site). Through stone walls, meandering grasses, boulder rock gardens, fern and tree plantings, rock slabs and decorative stone, everything was laid with a care and attention rarely seen. Matt carried out repairs and a renovation around our swimming pool, building an fabulous new deck and landscaping the surrounding gardens. The result was amazing and we were really impressed with his efficiency, neat work and creativity. He is very knowledgeable about the type of plants to use for different situations, and his use of natural materials to complement them gives a very pleasing result. Matt of Local Landscapes was a pleasure to work with. He took our simple concept and recreated it into a wonderful meandering natural stream, that our grandchildren enjoy clambering over the rocks and up and down the stream and its waterfalls. When Matt came around to discuss our plans he could understand our requests well but also offer invaluable advise. Our garden was became a selling feature a few years later after we had enjoyed the garden. The garden turned from a sloping terraced lawn to the WOW factor visitors saw when they arrived. I'll be adding pictures when I can take some that do Matt's work justice. He has impeccable attention to detail, a true eye for design and an incredible worker. Notwithstanding a decent and totally respectful guy. I couldn't recommend Matt enough for the work he has done for my property on the North Shore. I don't have an easy section to work with and he made the work look effortless. I have had many people stop and ask who did the work here; most that walk by have changed their walking routes just to come and see what else is happening and comment on the garden. I trust only Matt to work on my property to do a stunning job. He is worth gold on this location and has made a tough landscape look absolutely incredible. Worth every cent and then some.
