Hi, I'm David, a highly qualified and experienced tradesman carpenter of over 37 years with over 25 years experience as a specialised repair contractor doing all types of repairs from major Insurance fire reinstatements, impact, malicious, storm, and water damage repairs and including emergency block offs (making houses secure after damage). This work included preparing 'scope of works' and locating difficult to match materials, so that the repairs matched the existing building and adjacent work.
I also carry out a lot of smaller sized alterations, as well as 'leaky Building' remedial work.
I am a "Licensed Building Practitioner", license number BP --- covering 'carpentry' and 'site 2'
I also have extensive experience locating water leaks and remedying resultant water damage including remedial repairs to water damage, as well as critical building repairs (and maintenance).
I have a good understanding and appreciation of the requirements of the NZ Building Code and the acceptable solutions, especially, B1 Structure, NZS.3604 (timber framing design) and E2/AS1 (external moisture), as well as F4 and D1. I also can design 'alternative solutions' that comply with the Building Code. [It is not compulsory to follow the acceptable solutions.
I have a good understanding of basic engineering and design concepts to obtain the best potential from alterations, and have completed numerous alterations, landscaping structures, decks, pergola's and retaining walls.
I personally carry out all carpentry and associated work including the large number of minor repairs to a high standard, and have a good team of sub-contractors.
I carry out house pre-purchase inspections based on a 20 page template. I also inspect and report on various building failures, and work completed by previous contractors (usually for litergation).
