Cracks on wooden step to shower - potential water damage?

Our shower is separated from the bathroom floor by a small wooden step. There are cracks appearing on the step. Unclear if these cracks are just in the plastering or are symptomatic of water damage in the wooden frame behind. It would be great if someone could have a look to inspect for water damage, and quote for any repars if needed.
