Water damaged wall

We have water coming through the wall/skirting board in an upstairs bedroom. The source of the water is not known but our insurance company asked have that we get a quote for repair. I've attached photos showing the damage to our carpet; what seems to be the wallboard coming apart and the what could be water stains in the wallboard
