Job description

Interior Waterproofing
Wellington

Published: 26 January 2021

For context last year I had an issue in that we discovered water had been leaking from our bathroom and damaging the carpet - I have had a builder come round to check out what was the cause and he has confirmed this is as a result of the previous owners installing the wrong kind of bath - the bath they used the lip/edge of the bath does not sit flush with the wall (behind the jib) and water has been leaking through the worn silicon lining of the tiles (we have recently redone this) and then rather than hitting the wall and leaking back into the bath tub the water has been leaking through the gap in bath lip and wall and pooling on the concrete floor and then leaking into the adjoining room. This has resulted in the carpet in the spare room rotting and now needs to be replaced. I would be looking at getting someone round to have a look and replacing the bath with the correct model and removing the tiling: --- (this is what the builder recommended) I would also need you to take some photos and potentially prepare a report on what you discovered. I think it would also be worthwhile checking as part of the remedial work if there has been any damage to the internal facing side of the jib walling as a result of the water leaking. I am hopeful this has not been the case the water hopefully would have just leaked down to the floor and any residue would have dried. This would be on the assumption that we did not get the tiles replaced which would engage a council consent and be expensive. If possible I would be interested in getting a quote from you to do this work as an alternative option.
