Engineer Sign Off

Job image

Job description

Structural Engineer
Waitakere

Published: 13 June 2014

I need a Structural/Geotech Engineer to look at plans drawn by an A1 Homes architect (I have provided a link to the plans in the image I have uploaded as BuildersCrack doesn't allow me to put a link in the description!) looking for areas which talk about engineer sign off (and I need the resulting sign off) and doing anything else that may be required to be done to get council sign off. E.g. sheet 5 there’s 3 boxes containing “Note: Detail to be checked and signed off by an engineer”. The original builder who’s going to undertake the work assures me that the existing slab is 100mm with reinforcing (and I'm sure you could talk to him if necessary). The house itself was completed in 2012, so fairly new and fully compliant. Basically the carport was built to be a garage, however the original owners decided to keep it as a carport and not wall it in due to cost savings. Here’s a picture of the carport as it is now: --- / --- u/ --- .jpg There may be a site visit involved, I'm not sure, up to you, I just want the council rubber stamp of acceptance and I'll pay you once they're happy that all's well with the plans in regards to engineer acceptance. What would be great, is if possible, is if you can indicate where things aren't necessary. E.g. to me on sheet 5, I don’t believe we need to cut up the existing concrete slab along the side of the house to put down a footing, as absolutely nothing is going to go there! I’m no engineer, but I really can’t see the point of it (unless I’m reading the maps wrong and it’s just the end of the nib wall footing?) Anyway, very grateful for any input you might have and will look forward to hearing back from you soon with a price. Hopefully you can give it a stamp of approval ASAP and council can carry on producing their mountain of paper! Best regards, Tony Baker.

Can recommend Teo, not only did he do the engineer sign off on the plans quickly, he also responded to further stupid questions from council several more times without issue. Each time he responded within a few hours and completed the job very quickly. It's a real stress relief to have someone who can answer phones, messages and emails timely. Seems to be rare these days.
