Land surveying residential mixed zone in Auckland

I own a house in Blockhouse Bay, Auckland. I would like a registered surveyor to survey my land which has been zoned as mixed urban. There is a 100 sqm house (1950's) in the front with a sleep-out in the rear of the property. I plan on building a new dwelling for myself in the back while maintaining the front house. I really would just like to understand the potential of the land I have and I am told that a land survey is the place to start.
