Job description

Roof Sealing
Christchurch

Published: 8 September 2020

We have a 1970s timber pole house. In strong Southerly storms, two of the poles are leaking where they come up through the roof (see photos). The flashing around the poles aren't great, and with cracks in the poles, it's likely they're letting water channel down them and into the interior of our house. I am looking for someone who is able to get up there and fix the problem. We also have a couple of other roofing jobs to follow, but this is the urgent one. Note: Access is not ideal as we are on a hill and the pole flashings are halfway up a 45 degree pitched roof. See photos. Any more info I can offer, let me know, otherwise looking forward to hearing from you.

Tim's was helpful in identifying where leaks were likely to be coming in and what was needed to be done around each entry point. On the day he also did a bit of extra work to fix some downpipe/water flow when he was up there - which was great. The start date of the job was pushed a few weeks from what was initially indicated due to a few different factors, it didn't end up causing issues but perhaps setting more realistic expectations would be something to improve. Otherwise v happy, thanks!

"Thanks for your comments, A tricky repair on a steep roof, with main structural poles running through house. Poles were close up against exterior cladding of which took a bit of fabrication to apply sealing process behind the poles. Managed to apply butynol adhesives behind and around before applying multi coats of liquid membrane. Hopefully we have managed to seal everything up okay, glad to hear the repair is working well to date."
