General Renovations
Papakura

Published: 28 January 2016

Kitchen renovation : Move a door to an adjoining wall, remove a small part of a wall that juts into the kitchen. Refit all new cabinetry and appliances. 900mm gas hobs. Wall mounted oven. Large stainless steel fridge/freezer. We are hoping to not have to move any of the plumbing to keep costs down. Painting and tiling as required. Would like a glass splash back behind hobs. Bathroom renovation: Re line walls and waterproof. Remove old extractor fan and patch roof. Install claw foot tub and slide shower. Install new vanity and towel cupboard (space permitting). Install light over vanity. Install new towel rail. Keep mirror, lighting, heater and new extractor fan. Painting and tiling as required. Laundry renovation: Move wall back including plumbing and electrical. Install new laundry tub and cabinet. Install new 6kg+ dryer. Existing washing machine to stay.

Kev got me to remove the listing from Builder's Crack which I did. Things started well. Good contact, good quote, and seemed to know what he was doing. Was told the job was going to take 4 days, 8 days later he told me it was finished but gib hadn't been plastered which was originally quoted. He came back to plaster when I asked him to but it still looks awful (not ready to paint) and that was weeks ago. I'm so disappointed with the finishing. Silicone rugged and dirty.

Tradesperson reply
"When you try and keep cost's down at the end of the day doesn't work. In the case of this bathroom it was 29mm out of square, walls 20mm out with straightness , old dwelling studs & noggings non existent at the end of the day whole room should of been completely stripped and re- framed square & straight. The plumbing was that bad that it all had to be cut out and renewed. Considering I only charged $1886.00 for labour only which dealt with new bath in only which took two days just to re-frame."
