new shower and investigation of pipes

I need a new shower fitted into a shower cabinet. The old one is falling apart. Also the pipes connecting to the hot water tank need to be investigated. The pressure is way too low compared to all the other taps in the house. The hot water tank is right next to the shower - I suspect old pipes as the cause. I may need to have the pipes exchanged, depending on cost - or suggestions on what may be done.
