Hi. We had a hot water pipe burst in our shower on Sunday night, and when we removed the panel to see if we could get to the problem, we discovered it'd been leaking into the wall and floor for some time. We couldn't see where the burst part was; it's somewhere between the back of the shower base and the floor, so my husband went under our flat to see if he could spot the problem there, and he discovered mould and water damage to the support beam(s?) under the bathroom. So we have two distinct jobs. We need a plumber who can help us replace the burst/leaking pipe, check that there're no other leaks and fix the shower back up (we've had no hot water in the house for going on 3 days now, because we can't turn it back on without flooding the bathroom floor), and we need someone who can assess the damage under the house and see how it should be dealt with. We've contacted our insurance provider and they sent an assessor out yesterday. They marked our case as urgent so hopefully we hear from them today and they approve our claim because we don't have a big budget. But we're looking for someone who can take care of one or both these jobs at a reasonable price, competently and quickly. We have a four month-old baby in the house so need to get the hot water back up asap, and my husband is worried that even if we fix the shower, it's unsafe to stand in it if the beam isn't replaced/reinforced. I've been calling around for two days but everyone I've reached so far is busy. I'll keep ringing but hopefully we hear from someone on Builderscrack. Thank you!
