We were more than happy with the work carried out and Jeff was very pleasant Our disappointment came when we were charged for 100L of paint stripper for a 50m2 area. We emailed Jeff to notify him we were not paying for 100L so we paid for 20L after doing some research. As of today we have still had no response from the email notifying him of this fact on the 7th August.

"Hi Simon and Leanne, Thank you for your review in which I am a little shocked at the ratings I have been given. This is for the following reasons: 1. The price was agreed upon on the basis that the Client would supply all material. Since the paint stripper could only be purchased through 1 supplier in Wellington, which I am an account holder at, I suggested that I purchase the material on my account (discounted) and I invoice for this on completion of the job. Upon the Client receiving the final invoice, I was then questioned on the amount of paint stripper applied and then demanded that I provide my suppliers invoice! I have never in 18 years of working within the industry had this asked of me. However I complied with this request as I knew I had nothing to hide as I am a person of integrity and honesty. It wasn't until a few days later that I received an email from the Client referring to the quantities used "As advised I checked with independant painters but to be fair I thought it was best to check with the supplier of the paint stripper. As you can see from the email below Colorex have advised that one 20litre drum should be more than enough to strip 50m2. We will pay you $190.40 + GST. If your workers used the product incorrectly wasting another 3+ drums we believe you should be the one to pay for their mistake. It is not up to us to pay for wastage of products. We prefer to believe that the products were used incorrectly rather than the alternative". In response to this I would like to say... 1. Paint stripper is not applied in the same fashion, consistency, coverage or quantity as paint. For instance in your particular case multiple coats were applied as several layers of paint were present therefore requiring additional product to be applied. It may be "standard" to apply ex amount, but what was standard and what was required in this case were 2 different things. You are happy with the finished product which is a direct result of level of preparation (paint stripped) that was done. 2. You contacted independent companies, both of whom have made general statements in relation to surface coverage, which is invalid as neither company visited the site while the works was being carried out to confirm there quantity statement! In essence, I feel you have questioned my integrity and are referring to me as dishonest and a lier. We run a successful company and never need to justify our actions or who we are. I provided you with a quote, I provided you additional products used, I made contact as needed to confirm particulars within the job, several times. I returned to the job (unprompted) to give a final check off where you happened to be onsite and asked for a few areas to be addressed and touched up which I happily performed on the spot, no questions asked. My response to your last email, my reply has been slow as a comment was made by you as a statement "We will pay you $190.40 + GST. This statement left no room for me to discuss and I therefore "wrote off" the remaining amount knowing full well that it was due. I also found the accusation of my "staff wasting product" offensive and disrespectful. I know you would agree that I am friendly, approachable and caring, however I found this level of feedback unjust and based purely on your/others opinions. This attempt of Public humiliation is something I refuse to write off or accept as it is not a true reflection of what took place. I enjoyed working on your property and wish you well in the future. Regards, Jeff"
