Replace and refit safety latches for windows

Hi there, I have some safety latches on about 6 windows that I would like to be released and replaced. They make my house safe from burglars but in an emergency I am not able to release the latches in case I want to get out of the window. I can't figure out how to unscrew them and release them from the window frame. So the job would be : release the latches and replace with latches that are secure but can also be released.
