We are wanting to build a floor-to-ceiling bookcase against an internal wall. The dimensions are 190cm wide, 30cm deep, and 270cm high. Because of the existing woodwork in our hallway (polished wood floors, skirting boards and other decorative woodwork), we want the bookcase to be made of "nice" wood in keeping with the character of the house. (see photos) The bookcase needn't have a back to it; ie, it can be a rectangular frame with shelves but fixed to the wall. I have attached two photo examples to hopefully further illustrate what I mean.
