Dog door install

Hi there I need a dog door installed into the bottom pane of a window, I'm not sure if the glass is strong enough for a medium sized dog so replacing the glass with ply maybe a wise option (if possible) it's aluminium joinery. We haven't moved in yet so you will need to liase with the real estate agent. Thankyou
