Hedge lowering

We would like this hedge, which is approx 4 meters tall, reduced in height by around 0.5m, to make it more manageable to maintain. The width of the hedge is approx 1m. Photos show the size of the trunk at ground level - at the top it is nowhere near this thick but it will require notes than just a standard hedge blade to lower the height. Not sure what the hedge is, we didn’t plant it.
