Moved into new house. Wrought iron driveway gate currently sags - not allowing the gate to fully close. Problem appears to be gudgeons not properly placed into concrete post (many years ago). Suspect although the gate may have always sagged away from the hinge, the new concrete driveway below it has raised the driveway level meaning it's only an issue now. My estimation of the work required: some way of 1) raising the gudgeons approx. 1" (by lengthening the pin length?) at the same time as moving either top OR bottom gudgeon in/out from post to correct the degrees of fall on the gate from the post. ALTERNATIVELY - it could be easier to work. on the hinges on the gate itself (raising/lowering etc.) to achieve the same thing. Whilst the gate can be removed I'm really looking for someone to do this work on site, given the weight and size of the gate. Repainting not required (I can do that). Thanks. If you have any questions please let me know.
