Myself and my partner have recently purchased an earthquake damaged home. The house has had about half of the wiring done and it would seem the switchboard has been disconnected. The building consent plans show that the switchboard also needs to be moved. The house has previously been connected to power-lines, however these have been disconnected. It is unclear to me whether underground cables have been, or need to be run to the boundary. I have contacted Orion who has told me that I need to get an electrician to issue a Certificate of Compliance as the power has been disconnected for so long. So for this job, I will need an electrician to come and inspect the site in its current state in order to issue a Certificate of Compliance. Or determine what needs to be done to have a Certificate of Compliance issued. We require this to be done as soon as possible as we need electricity to be connected in some respect in order to commence earthquake repairs on the house. If this work is done to a satisfactory standard and in a timely manner, there will be more work available when the house wiring is to be completed.
