Footpath maintenance

We have a footpath from the front door down to the garage that is really slippery, it needs some gravel or chips laid down and compacted or maybe some pavers lid down so it is safer to walk down when wet. My dad would normally do this himself but he is recovering from a heart attack so we need some help. Thanks, Rana
