Damp basement #2

We have a basement room which was probably dug out and built 30 or more years ago. There is a crack in the concrete in the external wall which lets water in. There is also salt deposits forming along the wall which the crack is on. The paint on concrete blocks in the adjacent stairwell is peeling. We'd like someone to repair the crack and also identify if there are other issues causing the dampness that need to be fixed.
