Job description

General Concreting
Wellington

Published: 20 January 2019

Context: This is a path around two sides of a house. Pavers and sand have been removed, exposing the solid concrete slab underneath. Rain water currently gathers against the house where there is an existing bitumen and fibreglass seal. I want the seal removed and replaced and I want the concrete to be leveled out in such a way that water in future no longer pools against the house. Task one: Remove old bitumen and fibreglass seal along edge of path and replace it again with fresh bitumen seal or similar yet-to-be-determined product. About 2/3 of the length has the bitumen(?) tape, the other 1/3 has a fibreglass mesh on it. Task two: Flatten out the concrete slab to slope slightly away from the house. This to be done with an as-yet-to-be-determined product - Possibly leveling concrete or screed, or a fibre-mesh concrete. The existing 30 year old slab is in excellent condition, is very solid and has no cracks. Related tasks: Under the sand we found what was likely meant to be the drain for the area. I'd like this pipe examined and we'll decide whether to use it or not. There is also a drain that was added later and that has no real value or function. This should be removed and the hole filled up. Depending on the outcome of the leveling concrete, we may want to put the pavers back on again. I've cleaned the area up, but any necessary cleaning prior to doing the work should be part of the job. The photographs show the path along both sides of the house, the corner area, the drain to examine, and some closeups of the existing seal. The job/s obviously have many variables that would need to be discussed. Thanks!
