Job description

Concrete Driveways & Paths
Auckland

Published: 17 March 2023

During the recent storms, water pressure in a manhole chamber lifted the concrete top of the chamber in our carpark. The tar seal layer lifted and gravel under it washed under the seal. When the flooding subsided, it left a raised area packed with gravel. The unsupported tar seal collapsed into the remaining voids. These photos were taken a few days after the floods and the seal has fallen in more places than this. Damage may be more severe than is able to be assessed in the supplied photos so it is essential contractors visit the site to inspect the damage before pricing the job. As we are a charity we need an accurate and detailed quote. Repair required: Excavate carpark and chamber lid down to hard packed material Reset concrete manhole top onto chamber Add and compact gravel and reseal carpark to original level Note: the carpark is mainly used for light vehicles but the occasional truck uses it to turn around so they can go out of the driveway without reversing along the driveway which is shared with residential properties. The repair work needs to be done to accepted trade standards and within a reasonable time frame. Visits for quotes must be done during working hours as the complex is locked at other times and it is not accessible out of hours. The first photo is from inside the manhole and shows the amount the manhole chamber top was lifted.
