Job description

Concrete Driveways & Paths
Auckland

Published: 8 March 2021

I need a driveway compliant with council documents. I would like to do it ASAP before the rains start. I have included the plan and cross section, and below the consent conditions from council. The vehicle crossing permit has been processed. FROM RESOURCE CONSENT: Access and Traffic Access to site proposed via a new vehicle crossing and driveway. It is noted that the site is subject to a national grid corridor therefore ground disturbance was limited to accommodate this. The proposed driveway and parking areas have been designed to follow the existing steep gradient being 28% grade at its worst points through the mid portion of the driveway. To mitigate effects of the step gradient, concrete encased timber bollards are proposed at the end of the driveway in front of the parking space as a safety feature to stop vehicles from rolling down the steep embankment which is considered necessary. A broom concrete finish is proposed and given the steep grade of the driveway it is certainly recommended that the concrete is finished to provide maximum traction for vehicles. The vehicle crossing is located adjacent to the neighbours crossing and provide for a separation width of 1.2m between the two crossings and a total combined width of 6.2m which is seen to breach the unitary plan requirements for separation and total width. The proposed new crossing isshown as 2.95m width at the boundary. Given the area is located towards the end of a cul de sac where pedestrians are subject to very low traffic volumes it is considered that the proposal possess little to no risk to pedestrians and therefore is considered as having less than minor effects. The proposed vehicle crossing, driveway and parking design are seen to be fit for purpose and are considered satisfactory for the proposed development. A new vehicle crossing is proposed therefore a new vehicle crossing application must be made to Auckland Transport. Access and Traffic conditions and advice notes are recommended and are detailed in section 1.0 Recommended Conditions.
