We have a 1920s bungalow. I've been under the house for another reason and noticed a potential issue. Where I assume the fireplace used to be, the joist at the edge of the room is missing a portion at the edge of the room. The joists on either side sit on the piles comfortably, but there's a gap with some framing around what I assume was the fireplace. Is this an issue and is it something that should have been picked up on our pre-purchase inspection? Would be keen to get on the phone to someone and can take a pic - happy to pay a nominal amount for an opinion. Thanks
