Wall divider

Hi there, I have an open space above an entrance foyer that is 1880 wide that I would like to partition off as feel the bannister isn't high enough. I was thinking of vertical timber as per the example in the photo. Would only need to be around 600 high and not go all the way to the ceiling, but not opposed to it going all the way.
