Repair wooden bench seat and strengthen other identical seat

We have 2 wooden bench seats for indoor use and recently the legs snapped off one of the seats. It had been wobbly previously and I'd glued it together but this obviously wasn't enough. We work during weekdays 8am-7pm so I could pop home from work or drop the seats to you outside of work hours. We also want the other seat strengthened to prevent the same thing happening. My father in law did some diagrams, attached, on how to fix but unfortunately I don't have the tools (vices etc) to secure the wood in place while drilling etc. Thanks!
