Simple, nice and lively deck

Job description

Decking Restoration & Repair
Auckland

Published: 1 February 2018

I wish to reinforce or alternatively rebuild my deck after dismantle. The length of the present deck is 10.5 metres( I-across ) and 6.5 metres (- sideways). The present height of the deck from the the top of the existing steel rails to the floor is 3 metres. The height of the rails is .76 metres. I wish to retain the present steel on the basis that this conforms to council requirements. The width of the existing deck from the house wall to end is 1.5 metres ( I-across ) and 0.6 metres (- sideways)(relative to the lengths indicated above). In addition I wish to extend the existing width of the deck (- sideways) from the present 0.6 metres (- sideways) to 1.5/ 2 metre so that both widths are approximately nearly uniform or marginally increased as indicated. At the far end of the present deck (10.5 metres) ( I-across) is an enclosure (2.4 metres long /wide) with top roofing and glass (used as a drying area) which will need to be rebuilt either with roofing sheets / horizontal trellis that provides ventilation and cover as well . Please note that the rest of the deck (across and sideways) will remain exposed as at present. The piles/posts ( --- ) should be H5 treated and set in concrete footings The joists (150x50), the boarder joists (250x90), the decking (140x32) should be H3.2 treated and all substructure fasteners to be stainless steel type 304 as I understand to be compliant with the NZ building code of practice. It is also my intention to build stairs either at the sideways or across side of the deck so that access to my living room can be routed from outside. This is an option that could be implemented either in conjunction or later as the situation demands but not an absolute priority aat the moment. I have tried to be as descriptive as possible and this could be clarified with a site visit as the situation demands.
